Joseph Carson Avent, 80, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Pascagoula.
Mr. Avent was born April 22, 1919, in Moss Point. He was a retired data processing supervisor for International Paper Company. He was a charter member of YMBC, past president of Pascagoula Country Club, member of Hickory Hills Country Club and member of Grassy Creek Golf Course in Spruce Pine, N.C. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Delmas Avent Seaman; his father, Joe Avent; his step-father, C.P. Seaman; and his first wife, Ann Freeman Avent.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Watts Avent of Moss Point; a son, Joseph Carson Avent Jr. of Irmo, S.C.; a daughter, JoAnn Avent Gallardo of Mexico; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
