Mr. Thomas Jefferson Avent, 87, lifelong resident of Clarkson, MS passed away on February 9, 2020 at the home of his daughter, Cathy Davis in West Point, MS.
"T. J." was born on December 24, 1932 in Clarkson, the son of the late T. G. and Pluma Calcoate Avent. "T. J." was a retired truck driver/owner. He enjoyed attending Fame Church of God where he was a Sunday School Director for over 40 years, visiting with his friends at his home and helping others.
Mr. "T.J." is survived by his wife of 64 years; Leneze Kendall Avent, one daughter; Dr. Cathy Avent Davis (Bubba) of West Point, MS, two sons; Eddie Thomas Avent (Patricia) of Mantee, MS, and Charles Lacy Avenvt (Candy) of Sulligent, AL, twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, four sisters; Edna Ruth Ward of Clarkson, MS, Mary Lou Shepherd (William) of Florence, MS, Lorene Eubanks (Larry) of Eupora, MS, and Irene Shurden of Starkville, MS, one brother; Billy McCoy (Jimmie) Avent of West Point, MS, and one sister-in-law; Hazel Kendall Avent of Clarkson, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Herman Avent and a great grandson; Cole Pruden.
Pallbearers were; Timothy Pruden, Brad Avent, Craig Avent, Michael Avent, Kendall Avent, Richard Easley, Patrick Avent and Jose Fonseca. Honorary pallbearers were; Jimmy Avent, Joe Avent, Nig Hendrix, Billy Ray Cummings and James Griffin.
