The homestead of Modera is on the original farm of Henry Clay Avent. The ruins of H. C. Avent's home which had previously been destroyed by fire is located approximately 1000 feet north east from Modera's home and the location of the slave cemetery is another 200 feet farther away toward the north, north east.
