Mrs. Wimberley was an expert seamstress and co-owner of Wimberley Air Conditioning. She was a stay-at-home mother and was a caregiver for her parents.

As a long time member of New Chapel Hill Baptist Church, she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. She also was a 4-H Leader.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years; Virdia Wimberley, father Charles Alexander Avant, mother Mattie Lee Aulds Avant, sister Ina Florine Wimberley, and brother Milton Lester Avant.
