Born on June 2, 1940, in Mississippi to John and Lucille Avent, Jewel was one of fifteen children. In 1957, she married the love of her life, Calvin Wilson. Together they had two children, Clyde and Pamela, seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Jewel enjoyed reading the Bible, playing the piano, and fellowshipping with others. She was a seeker of knowledge and encouraged that same love of learning into her children and grandchildren. Jewel was loyal, faithful, and generous, had a vibrant smile and loved with her whole heart. She was sought out for her wisdom, advice and prayer.
