Maxine Watts Avent, 84, of Greenville, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville.
Mrs. Avent was born Feb. 17, 1928, near Pine Bluff Church in Montgomery County. She was the youngest child of the late Thomas and Mary Lee Watts.
She retired from McRae's after 25 years and was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for nearly 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John W. Avent Jr., an infant son, Jody Avent; three sisters, Robbie Morehead, Edith Hubert, and Maurine Quinn. Three brothers, Ralph Watts, Bootsy Watts, who was killed in action in the D-Day Invasion of WWII, and Frizell Watts.
