NameFREEMAN, Alvie Ida , 5G Granddaughter
Misc. Notes
Alvie was living in Bonham with her brother and sister-in-law, Finis and Mary Freeman, attending Bonham High School and working at Woolworth's one Saturday when she met Harold (who was working at the CCC - Civilian Conservation Corp -- one of FDR's programs to alleviate the effects of the Great Depression). A girlfriend from school came in and asked Alvie to go out on a blind date with Harold, a young man that she had formerly dated. Alvie replied that she did not go out with guys that she didn't know, but when Harold came into the store that afternoon it was "love" at first sight. She and Harold were married about six weeks later and Alvie dropped out of school. When Finis came in to wake her for school one morning, Harold was in bed with Alvie (they had married the night before). Finis was surprised!
