Charles Thomas “Tommy” Avant, 80, died Jan. 23, 2019, at his residence. Mr. Avant was born Sept. 8, 1938, in Oktibbeha County, to the late Joe Tom and Lillie Irene Ponder Avant.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles Thomas Avant Jr.; and four brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Dicie Jane McGinnis Avant; son, Vernon Avant of Columbus, New Jersey; daughter, Carolyn Crisofulli of North Brunswick, New Jersey; sisters, Dorothy Lorene Stephens of Meridian and Bess Eastin of Odenton, Maryland; and six grandchildren.
