Grace Avant Mitchell is a twin. Her fraternal twin is Grady Avant, Sr. She had 13 brothers and sisters.
Her husband was colorblind. They didn't have children. I visited them twice before she was in a nursing home. My Dad bought John D. Mitchell's car and I drove it while I was at Judson College.
Grace had a sister who worked at the nursing home as a nurse. Her name was Emma Avant Lake, wife of William Lake, Sr. and they had a daughter named Ila Jean Lake, and son named William Lake, Jr. Ila Jean would take me to lunch a few times a year. We sang to her and Ila Jean played the piano for Grace Avant Mitchell. She was my grandmother's sister.
