Berva Lou Avant of Crockett, TX, departed this life on Monday February 11, 2019, at a Houston Nursing Home. She was born on August 15, 1936 in Bethel, Oklahoma to Opal Raymond Morris and Ruby Mae Morris.
Berva Avant made Jesus the center of her life and was a member of Crockett First Assembly Church in Crockett, Texas.
She was a school teacher for many years before she retired. She was also a member of Kappa Delta Pi ,a teacher sorority. Berva loved to play bridge, line dance, read, sew and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a former member of the AMARILLO Charter of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Avant was preceded in death by her parents: Opal and Ruby Morris; husband: Gerald Dee Avant and brother: Melton Lee Morris.
She is survived by her son: Dewayne Avant and wife Chida; daughter: Beverley Avant; five grandchildren, including Jimmy Avant and wife Heather, Calvin Scott and wife Herlinda, Christopher Scott and wife Niki, Leora Avant, Kerry Avant and Josh; six great grandchildren, including Jamaya Scott, Jazzmyne Scott, Breanna Avant, Jeorge Real, Mario Real, Alicia Real; sisters: Wilma Rogers and husband Phillip, Barbara Broesche; nieces; nephews; aunt: Faye Henderson of Eugene, Oregon and a host of friends.
