Emma Jeanne Lillian Shaver was born in Knox County, Texas on August 5, 1925. Her beloved parents were Mary Elizabeth (Molly) Anderson and Edward Braxton Shaver. She graduated from West Texas State in 1945, and she earned her master’s degree from North Texas State in library science in the 1960s. She married Thomas Howard Lair on Sept. 7, 1945. She was a lifelong citizen of Canyon, the librarian at Rex Reeves/Oscar Hinger elementary school for 12 years, and a longtime member of the First Methodist Church.
Jeanne is survived by her four children, Andrea Jennings (Ernest) of Coppell, Thomas Gould Lair (Carol) of Canyon, Jennifer Halpin (Mike) of El Paso, and Ed Shaver Lair (Lisa) of Southlake.
She also leaves behind nine granddaughters, Reagan Garrison, Erin Vickery, Leah Lair Phipps, Evan-Shay Lair, Calla Gemmill, Hilary Halpin, Natalie Lair Smith, Jordan Prochaska, and Madison Shay Lair.
Jeanne has thirteen great-grandchildren, Molly and Graham Garrison (in Granbury) Lair and Lake Vickery (in Colleyville), Farrah Phipps, Emma and Kyra Lair, Tommy Inthachack, and Jalen Johnson (in Canyon), Nola and Ryla Gemmill (in Abilene), and Parker and August Smith (in El Paso).
