Thomas Andrew and his first wife Josephine Parker we're first cousins.
Thomas's mother Amey Avants sister Elender''Nellie'' Avants, Parker. Mitchell had 3 girls with a John Parker before his death probably in The Civil War. Margaret A. Parker, McHand 1848, Annie Ellen Parker, Gordon 1850 and Josephine Francis Parker, Avants 1858.
Thomas and Josephine we're married in Choctaw county Ms. December 25. 1858. All their children but the youngest Joe Leonard were born there, he was born in Baywood, East Baton Rouge Parish Louisiana after the family relocated there in the mid 1890s.
They were in Pike county Mississippi when Josephine died in 1902, she is buried at Peter Arthur Quin Cemetery there. Two of their children Cary Early and Bobby died as infants in Choctaw County and are buried beside their Grandmother Amey Avants at Antioch Community Cemetery at Reform, Choctaw County MS.

Their mother is shown as Elender (43) but their father was not listed on the census. He could have possibly died before 1870, divorced Elender or simpley abandoned the family.
