Rhoda Alice Reardon Clark of McComb, MS passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2017.
She was born on December 8, 1937, to Walter and Ladie Wells Reardon.
Rhoda graduated from Mars Hill School in 1955 with the honor of Class Valedictorian. She attended
Copiah-Lincoln Community College where she was a member of the Collettes dance team. She then completed her higher education at the
University of Southern Mississippi in 1959. Later on, she also received her Master's Degree and Gifted Certification from USM.
In 1961, Rhoda married Clifton Clark of Mars Hill, MS. Transfers with Cliff's job took them to numerous locations before their return to McComb, MS in 1972 where she was a teacher in the McComb Public School System for 34 years until her retirement. Many of her former students credit her with nurturing their love of learning and continuing their education.
Family was very important to Rhoda. She loved to host family gatherings and also loved to travel. Some of her favorite trips were with her husband to Monaco and with her two children to Europe. She also made several memorable trips with her sisters.
Rhoda was a member of First Baptist Church of McComb, MS but never forgot her beloved Methodist roots at Adams United Methodist Church. She was also an active member of numerous clubs and civic groups including Flower Lovers Club, where she was able to indulge her love of flowers and gardening, Retired Teachers,
Delta Kappa Gamma, Aspasia, Amite River Art Guild, Praise Sunday School Class, Master Gardner, Railroad Museum, ABC Bridge Club, and a favorite for 44 years was the 2nd Saturday Night Supper Club
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Imogene Moppert and Audrey Smiley, brother Charles (Bull) Reardon, and mother-in-law Effie Clark.
Rhoda is survived by her husband of 56 years, Clifton Clark, daughter Karen Clark Hart (Christopher), son Michael Clark, sisters Berneda Wilkinson and Sammie Dickerson, and a number of nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.
The family would like to thank the wonderful sitters who have cared for her through the years of her illness: Pearl Turner, Brenda Taylor, Emma Porter, Patricia Jackson, Katrina Littleton, and especially, Cynthia Marshall who loved and cared for her for the last three years, becoming a beloved part of the family.
