He was born in Jackson, MS, but resided in Baton Rouge for over 30 years. Robert was employed with Power Control Systems, where he served as a Vice President of the company.
He received a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University and he was a licensed Professional Engineer. He was respected and admired in the workplace and was a mentor to numerous individuals in his field of work.
Robert enjoyed working, hunting, cooking and collecting guns.

Robert is survived by his wife of 38 years, Phillis Oswalt Bayly; his mother, Annie B. Bayly of Jackson, MS; his children, Jennifer Welch and husband Andrew, Perry Bayly and wife Stephanie, Kimberley Du and husband Jacob; his grandsons, Joseph and Jackson Du and Nixon Welch; and his sister Jane Bonner and husband Mike of Jackson, MS.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert P. Bayly, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Welch, Jacob Du, Barry Weaver, Michael McAnelly, Dustin Bergeron, Sam Pearce, Danny Myers and Tim Garrity
