Ernest Braswell Avent, Jr., 60, died on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Nash General Hospital. E.B. was born on September 9, 1947 to the late Frances Long and Ernest Braswell Avent, Sr.
E.B. graduated from Red Oak High School in 1965 and East Carolina University in 1969. He worked as Corporate Controller for MBM for 30 years. He was a member of the American Association and North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Being an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, he served as treasurer for a number of years.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 39 years, Katherine Denton Avent; daughter, Katherine "Kitty" Avent Hudgins and son-in-law, William "Bill" Alexander Hudgins; the light of his life, granddaughter, Katherine "Kate" Braswell Hudgins; one sister, Beverly Avent Edwards; and his MBM family.
