Luke’s tombstone inscription includes the following:
“...Was in General Harmer’s army at his defeat; was a spy under Wayne; was in the battle 21 August 1794 (battle of ‘Fallen Timbers’) when the Indians were defeated. ...”
It has been recorded that Lucas Hood was scalped by Indians on one of his expeditions and left for dead though he survived and suffered occasional “spells” for the remainder of his life.
