Bernell McNiece Long ,86, of Rome passed away Saturday morning July 14, 2012 at a local hospital.
A native of Tishomingo County, Mississippi, Mrs. Long was born January 28, 1926 daughter of the late Garland Andrew McNiece and Essie Timmons McNiece. She had lived in Mississippi most of her life and was employed by Wrangler Manufacturing as a sewing machine operrator. Following the death of her husband Corbitt Long in 1988, Mrs. Long moved to Rome and was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church.Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a stepfather, and a brother Doug McNiece and sister Dorothy Camp.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law Kermit M. and Sharon Long of Columbia, SC; grandchildren Chris, Derek, and Kaitlin Long; great grandchildren Cooper, Andrew, Eliza, and Abbie Grace Long. A brother G.A. McNiece of Rome and two sisters Marcia Smith and Faye Holland also survive.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Richard Didrick, Jimmy Rogers, Melvin Floyd, Eddie Lowery, Rodney Shannon and Sam Shetter.
Honorary pallbearers are Don Trammrll. Russell Payton, Leon Cross, David and Sara Lou Shetter, and the Joy Sunday School Class
