Arthur Joseph "Buckwheat" Art Stevens 82 of Cowden, Illinois passed away at 7:29 a.m. June 22, 2011 at St. John's Memorial Hospital, Springfield, Illinois.
Art was born April 10, 1929 in Montgomery County, Illinois the son of Ben and Velma Rhodes Stevens. He married Vonita Faye Naab on August 31, 1952 in Nokomis, Illinois.
Art was a Corporal in the US Army in Korea from 1952-1954. He worked at Norge in Effingham, Illinois and also a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ. He loved being outdoors as well as fishing, gardening and mowing.
Surviving are his wife Vonita Stevens, Cowden, Illinois; children-Madonna (Mike) Nichols, Mode, Illinois; Marsha (James) Kates, Witt. Illinois; Joseph (Cindy) Stevens, Tuscola, Illinois; Sandra (Bruce) Miller, Beecher City, Illinois; Pam (James) Johnson, Bingham, Illinois; Max Stevens and Paula (Lynn) Robertson both of Cowden, Illinois; 27 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren (3 on the way) and 1 great-great grandchild; siblings-Ralph Stevens, Pana, Illinois; Beverly (Bob)Cunningham of Assumption, Illinois and Betty Crider of McLeansboro, Illinois.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; siblings-Paul, Walter, Ben Jr, Archie Stevens, Geralding Schinzler and Shirley Ruth Cochran.

Vonita F. Stevens, 82, of Cowden passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.
Born February 20, 1933 in Ramsey she was the daughter of Harry and Tressie (Timmons) Naab. She married Arthur Joseph Stevens on August 31, 1952 in Nokomis, IL and he preceded her in death on June 22, 2011.
Vonita was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ in Herrick, IL. She was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and traveling with her sisters.
Surviving are daughters Madonna (Mike) Nichols of Mode, Marsha Kates of Witt, Sandra (Bruce) Miller of Beecher City, Pam (James) Johnson of Ramsey and Paula (Evan Schaefer) Robertson of Cowden; sons Joseph (Cindy) Stevens of Tuscola and Max Stevens of Cowden; 27 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sisters Avril Baldock of Ramsey, Vida (Emmet) Hall of Ramsey, Carole Black of Herrick and Rosalie (Roger) Miller of Cowden; brothers Frederick Naab of Vandalia, Howard (Lois) Naab, Ronnie (Rose) Naab, Verle Naab and Roger Naab all of Ramsey.
