Norma Jean Riney, 69, of Memphis, Missouri passed away late Wednesday morning, Decmber 7, 2011, at home with her family by her side. The daughter of Ora Winford and Hazel Beatrice Rhoads Bradford, she was born August 2, 1942 in Peoria, Illinois.
She attended school in Scotland County and graduated in the Class of 1960 from the Memphis High School. After graduating from high school she married Larry Gene Riney on June 19, 1960 at the United Methodist Church in Memphis and to this union three children were born, Carol Lynn, Vicki Gail and Darin Todd.
Norma worked at the Scotland County R-I Schools as the secretary of the superintendent, for the Missouri Federal Savings Bank as a cashier and later at Cooks Men's Store as a clerk before retiring and spending time with her family whom she loved dearly. She and Larry had a special relationship with the Cotton girls, Sarah, Jessie and Melissa and treated them as their own grandchildren.
She was a member of the Memphis United Methodist Church, and the Scotland County Genealogical Society. She also volunteered at the Memphis Theatre and the Memphis Depot. In her spare time she loved to read, study genealogy and sewed.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters; Judy Ann Carder and Mary Jane Campbell.
Surviving relatives include her husband Larry Riney of Memphis, Missouri, two daughters; Carol Riney of Columbia, Missouri and Vicki Ahland and her husband Mike of Memphis, Missouri, one son; Darin Riney and his wife Grethlyn of Richmond, Indiana, granddaughters: Paige and Cassidy Riney of Richmond, Indiana, Genika (Chris) Lucas, McKenna and Rhyleigh Lucas all of Connersville, Indiana, an uncle; Marion Rhoads, two nephews, a niece and cousins.
