He was born in Fairfield District, South Carolina in the year 1763, entered service at the age of 16, in 1778. He served in Captain Jacob Frazier's Company, Colonel Thomas Taylor's Regiment, at the Battle of Stone Ferry. In 1780, he served on the Congores River, in Captain Lewis Pope's Company. He was in Captain James Graig's Company of Orangeburg. He served several tours of duty against the Tories in South Carolina. His pension application was executed 5 October 1832 in Gwinnett Co, Georgia. His age was listed as 69 years old.
