In 1703 Dorothy Jones Cantrell at age 30, went in front of the Grand Jury in Wilmington, PA (now DE) " for masking in men's clothes [it was a masquerade ball] the day after Christmas 12/26/1702, "walking and dancing in the house of John Simes at 9 or 10 o'clock at night." John Simes, who gave the party, was presented for keeping a disorderly house, "a nursery of Debotch ye inhabitants and youth of this city... to ye greef of and disturbance of peaceful minds and propagating ye Throne of wickedness amongst us."

In will of Dorothy's mother, Jane Jones, relict of Ellis Jones, executed at Philadelphia, 8/3/1730, and recorded at Philadelphia, 12/27/1832, mentions grandchildren: 'Zebulon Cantril, Joseph Cantril, and Dorothy Cantril,' to each 'One English shilling, or value of it in coyn. current.'
