AMORY - Mary Myrtle Hudson Ausbon, 102, died on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at her residence. Born on Aug. 11, 1909, in Hatley/ She was a daughter of the late James Franklin and Della Jane Farris Hudson.
She attended school in Winfield and Hatley. Graduating in the Class of 1929 from Hatley, she was a member of the first girl's basketball team, 1928-1929. She worked on the farm and was a seamstress. Guided by her faith, she was a member of Hatley Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed being with her family, quilting, flower gardening, sewing, gardening, reading books, watching Dennis Rodman play basketball, and gospel and country music. She was passionate about supporting the Paralyzed Vets Association.
She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Ann Fines of Amory and Francis MaDonna Cole (Kerry) of Ashville, Ala.; grandchildren, Pam Adams of Huntsville, Ala., Terry Ausbon of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., Andre Ausbon (Annette) of Huntsville, Randy Morgan of Fulton, Lee Morgan (Jamie) of Amory, Tracy Bean (Ed) of Shannon, Robbie Ausbon of Amory, Amber McBunch (Joseph) of Amory, Della Stocks (Jeff) of Asheville, N.C., Todd Justice (Tracey) of Columbiana, Ala., Brandi Lidikey (Jeff) of Hoover, Ala., and Kim Hayes (Harry) of Warrior, Ala.; 25 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; several special nieces and nephews; and special friend, Elizabeth Swan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Ausbon; sons, Bobby and Landon Ausbon; sisters, Inez Dilworth, Lena Wright, Jimmie Lee Wright and Jean Wilson; brothers, Brack and Buddy Hudson; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Randy Morgan, Lee Morgan, Robbie Ausbon, Todd Justice, Andre Ausbon and Jason Miller. Honorary pallbearer will be Terry Ausbon
